Professional background
Eva-Maria Pferschy-Wenzig is pharmacist by training. She received her PhD at the University of Graz (Austria) in 2004 and her habilitation and venia docendi in pharmacognosy in 2024.
Currently she is senior scientist at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Pharmacognosy) at University of Graz. Her main research interests include:
- assessing the interactions between natural products and the human gut microbiome
- identification of new and /or pharmacologically active natural products by UHPLC-HRMS metabolite profiling combined with chemometric methods
- activity-guided isolation and structural elucidation of pharmacologically active natural products
- analysis and quality control of complex herbal medicinal products using metabolomics- and lipidomics- based methods
